The hypocrisy of the American psyche will surely reap the seeds of its destruction. We condemn drug lords but at the same time stand by as pharmaceutical companies recruit unscrupulous doctors to peddle new drugs. Both prescribe by the profit motive, business 101, supply and demand; the first one is always free, with little regard for safety or life. The tobacco industry, the ultimate weapon of mass destruction, kills more Americans than the sum total of all drugs. Our children are inundated with drug innuendoes through mediums of indoctrination such as music, movies, and the media. Our daughters and sons are inserting vodka soaked tampons into their vaginas and rectums, and DWI's continue to soar at alarming rates, yet we deny that alcohol is a drug. Powder cocaine is glamorized and sniffing heroin is sheik, but if we smoke crack and shoot dope we are a "crack head" or a "dope fiend." Condemnation of some equals the inevitable destruction of all. Miseducation: Like a Trojan horse it stands before us; consuming us, spewing invisible rays of destruction and death. We are at war America: It appears to be a war against drugs. In reality it's a war not against, but for our spirits. We are losing our ground because we have become disconnected from our inner strength. We are so comfortable with the immediate gratification of the here now: We have become so allured by the anesthetization of the pain of our past and of our present, that we have resigned ourselves to self defeating behavior. America is plagued with a pandemic of addictive behaviors. The only way we will win the war is to reclaim our spirit and hold steady to our natural inclination of self preservation. The countless souls who are lost share a commonality in spirit and grace. "There is no such thing as 'crack heads' and "dope fiends," only your mother, my father, his son, their daughter. We are all in some way interconnected. Our spirits bind us to a power greater than ourselves. Americans must get honest: We must take a stance. Enough is enough: Stop the madness. From this day forward our mantra will be, "I will no longer allow the ill promises of drugs and other self defeating behaviors that allow me to transcend this place and time consume me. I reclaim my spirit; right here, right now."

Not for me
By Amazon Customer
It was like a love letter to drug addicts to me anyway. I would like to read a book about the hardship drug addicts cause to the people around them. I think we pretty much get that they are in pain and struggling but aren't most people? The largest consumer of drugs are American as arrogant as most people are in this country towards other countries we do not like our self and are attracted to pain.. It's not my book but I found the subject matter redundant but I had to buy it for class but threw it out afterwards.

This book was not proofread. I have never before read a book so littered with errors.
By Christopher G Wentworth
It is silly that I will communicate more carefully in this review than the author did in this book. There are countless errors. These errors include misspelled words, misused words, incomplete sentences, incorrect punctuation, missing punctuation, and plenty more. These things are distracting to me because I love effective communication. I managed to tolerate this rough draft until page 59. There is a "table" that is unnecessarily (and confusingly) split between the very bottom of this page, and the top of the next. Beyond this annoyance, the "table" doesn't initially read as a table. It is missing the fundamental formatting of a table — there are no columns, and the table cells are not depicted. After this, I became distracted enough to count the errors from pages 66–69. On these four pages, there are no fewer than 16 missing commas, nine missing hyphens, five misspelled words, three misused words, multiple instances of unnecessary / incorrect punctuation, and multiple sentences that would be rewritten without hesitation by a copy editor. I feel like the frequency of errors in these four pages is representative of the entire book, though I don't think I will verify this. I spent fewer than five minutes flipping through the final 40 pages.
I did not give this book a 1-star rating for a few reasons.
1. I did not hate this book :-)
2. Ultimately, I like the message.
3. I LOVE the final statement on page 111, and found it to be a nice reward. It is the strongest piece of this book.
This book may serve as a useful starting point for a person who does not:
• immediately recognize alcohol as a dangerous drug
• question the motivations of pharmaceutical companies
• know that drugs and addiction are extraordinarily pervasive
• make parallels between what is legal and what is illegal
• spend much time thinking critically about life on earth
• find understanding to be more valuable than blame
• hesitate to condemn others
This book could be dramatically improved by:
• proofreading
• reducing repetition
• addressing the reader as "America" less often
• being less emotionally bombastic
I would read a revised version of this. In its current form, I would not recommend this to others.
